Riley has demonstrated a high level of competence in the fundamental movement skills of kicking and dodging. Good control and coordination of most actions is evident. In kicking, Riley focuses on the ball and positions his non-kicking foot correctly.  He demonstrates the ability to kick with his non-dominant foot but seems off balance at times, and a shortened follow-through detracts from the power of the kick. In dodging, Riley is well balanced, confidently transfers his body weight, uses his arms effectively and demonstrates good footwork. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 3.

Grade B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

They understand the elements of movement and compose and perform movement sequences with control and coordination in various contexts. Students demonstrate teamwork, tactics and strategies when participating in team games. They demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental movement skills of leap, kick, two-handed strike and dodge and apply them in a range of challenging physical activity contexts. Students participate in a range of moderate to vigorous physical activities and apply movement skills with increased confidence and precision. They investigate the effects of physical activity on health and monitor and evaluate physical activity levels.
