Courtney has demonstrated an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and the text type. The discussion is well written with a balanced point of view including several justified arguments for each side. Courtney has included a significant amount of detail and supporting evidence. A very high level of competence is evident in the drafting, revising and editing of the text. Appropriate language features and structures have been used, including complex sentences and creative sentence beginnings. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 3.

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

Students evaluate the effectiveness of their writing by focusing on grammatical features and the conventions of writing.
