Lesley has demonstrated a very high level of competence in using different artistic concepts and techniques to represent the subject matter. The chosen colour scheme effectively differentiates between foreground and background, and a range of techniques has been used to show texture, light and shadow on three-dimensional objects. A very high level of competence is evident in the gradation of tone in the multiple colours of the flower petals. There is evidence of careful observation in the use of overlapping, segmenting of the petals and different perspectives of the flowers. Lesley has displayed a very high level of competence in different drawing techniques, in the application of water colours on the table and in the use of angles in the composition of the artwork. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 3.
