Haley has demonstrated a very high level of competence in the fundamental movement skills of overarm throwing and catching. Strong control is evident in all aspects of the skills. When throwing, Haley takes a side-on stance, rotates from the hip and follows through for accuracy and power. To take a catch, Haley successfully moves his body into position behind the ball. These skills can be effectively applied to a game situation as demonstrated by the quick recovery of the rolling ball on the ground and transfer to a fluent throwing motion. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 2.

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

    Students apply movement skills in dance, gymnastics, games and sports, and practise manipulative skills in a range of minor games. They perform movement sequences with consistency and control and demonstrate cooperation, effort and practice in physical activity. Students demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental movement skills of static balance, sprint run, vertical jump, catch, hop, side gallop, skip and overarm throw through practice and application in different games and sports. They participate in physical activity and investigate how it contributes to a healthy and active lifestyle.
