Jamie has demonstrated basic knowledge and understanding of cross hatching techniques and how to vary size to represent tonal qualities but some areas are less resolved and consistent. The central tree trunk is a linking device indicating basic understanding of composition (structural frame). Jamie's use of repetition to create links is also evidence of some compositional intention. The work contains some interpretive activity in the representation of falling leaves and seed pods. There is an attempt to represent a point of view through the representation of tree trunks and changed viewpoints, indicating a foundational understanding of how composition situates the audience in relation to the image. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard.
