Pat has investigated the conventions of drawing, a range of drawing techniques and the use of tonal contrast to represent the natural world. There is strong use of tonal contrasts, and a variety of line and linear shapes. Strong linear movement is evident throughout the composition, and line has been used to create textural richness. Pat has demonstrated a thorough understanding of how visual codes can be used to communicate meaning. There are organic shapes breaking through the grid, an indication of the built environment through incorporation of bricks, and a variety of organic shapes and natural textures. Plants have been used as symbols of vitality and life, reflecting Pat's exploration of the natural world. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard.

Grade B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.
