Courtney has provided a sophisticated and individual concept of the grid, with varied viewpoints and a suggestion of depth. The selection of image has been considered in relation to the size of the grid format and there is experimentation with a range of drawing techniques. The structure as a whole is well considered and the selected images relate well to each other. Tonal qualities unify the composition, as does the obvious consideration of the different types of shapes represented. Courtney's arrangement of size creates depth and the centre panel can almost be seen as a vanishing point. There is a sophisticated understanding of the way structure and drawing techniques can combine to develop meaning. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.
