Other Work Samples for:

Drew has demonstrated a very high level of competence in using a range of artistic techniques to create a portrait. This unconventional view of portraiture is strong in ideas and artistic actions. Well-informed choices have been made in terms of conventions, materials and techniques, displaying a technically-sophisticated and refined individual style. The confident use of colour and bold, painterly brushstrokes add to the dimension of the artwork and clearly communicate ideas about the sitter. The closely-cropped composition and deliberately large scale emphasise the paint application and communicate the core considerations of identity. The face has morphed into a machine-like image, suggesting the darker side of the personality and subconscious in an emotive portrait that resonates on a technical and conceptual level. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.
