Lou has designed and produced a textile item of excellent quality using the process of felting. A very high level of creativity is evident in the combination of colour, techniques and materials and in the development of the nuno hand-felted fabric. Lou has creatively and proficiently selected and manipulated a range of techniques in the combination of cotton, silk and wool fibres and fabrics to create a fringed and textural tail to the scarf. A range of different materials has been selected to enhance the aesthetics of the item. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the properties of the selected textiles is evident in the excellent quality of the felted scarf. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at Grade A standard.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
