Bobby has demonstrated a basic understanding of percentages by calculating a percentage of a number and showing that this percentage must be deducted from the original price. Bobby has not demonstrated an understanding of successive discounts by using repeated multiplication, assuming incorrectly that percentage discounts may be added together. Working has been clearly set out using mathematical notation but very little mathematical reasoning has been provided. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D4 standard at the end of Stage 5.
