The Pyramid of Giza - Dale : Grade Commentary
Dale has demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of volume and surface area. Appropriate strategies have been used to perform calculations accurately. The diagrams are clear, with correct units for surface area but not for volume. Pythagoras’ theorem has been used to find slant height but the rounded answer has been used in the surface area calculation, causing a compound error. The inclusion of the base as a surface area requiring limestone facing indicates a lack of understanding of the practicalities of the problem rather than a calculation error. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B7 standard at the end of Stage 5.
