Guidelines for marking

The following guidelines for marking show one approach to assigning a value to a student’s work. Other approaches may be used that better suit the reporting process of the school. Categories, marks, grades, visual representations or individual comments/notations may all be useful.

Range Students in this range:
High
  • draw appropriate graphs for each given story, with appropriate labelling of axes
  • create different types of stories and matching graphs
  • clearly explain results
Satisfactory
  • draw an appropriate graph for at least one of the given stories, with appropriate labelling of axes
  • create at least one story and matching graph
Progressing
  • draw an appropriate graph for at least one of the given stories, with appropriate labelling of axes.

Feedback

Students will receive:

  • possible prompt questions related to the assessment Activity to assist their engagement
  • written feedback on individual responses in relation to drawing appropriate graphs of physical phenomena
  • specific advice about strategies to further consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding, and suggestions for completing related additional tasks
  • oral feedback (to the class and individuals) related to the overall understanding of the concepts and misconceptions about the mathematical ideas.
