Information Sheet

You have been employed by a Japanese tour company to design a tour of places that are not the major tourist locations; places apart from the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Sydney Tower, Sydney Aquarium, Darling Harbour. You may wish to target a specific age group for your tour and you can present your information as a PowerPoint, video, segment for a radio program or brochure. You must keep a journal of your thinking, planning, ideas, changes and selections/eliminations, and submit the journal with the presentation.

Points to consider when designing your tour

  • facilities/attractions apart from the usual tourist destinations
  • locations of these alternative destinations
  • age group(s) you are targeting
  • the essential requirements/needs of tourists (lunch/dinner/toilets/views)
  • what would appeal to Japanese tourists
  • the cultural requirements of Japanese tourists
  • costs
  • transport considerations.

Use your skill and understanding of the Japanese language, culture and thinking to create an exciting presentation that will persuade Japanese tourists to come on your tour of interesting places that are not the major tourist destinations in Sydney.
