Guidelines for marking

The following guidelines for marking show one approach to assigning a value to a student's work. Other approaches may be used that better suit the reporting process of the school. Categories, marks, grades, visual representations or individual comments/notations may all be useful.

Range

A student in this range:

11-15

(High)

  • uses appropriate terminology to clearly communicate the steps/stages in undertaking a specific skill or process in the use of Macromedia Flash software
  • incorporates a range of communication techniques in a single document
  • produces a print document of high quality that integrates text and graphics incorporating a range of skills

6-10

(Satisfactory)

  • communicates the steps/stages related to a specific skill or process in the use of Macromedia Flash software
  • uses a limited range of communication techniques
  • produces a quality print document that integrates text and graphics demonstrating the successful application of more than one skill

1-5

(Progressing)

  • lists steps/stages in relation to a specific skill or process in the use of Macromedia Flash software
  • produces a text-only document
  • produces an elementary print document demonstrating limited skill.

Feedback

Students will be given written feedback in the form of a marking sheet. Comments will inform them about quality of information, user-friendliness, visual design and document layout. Peer evaluations will be recorded using the same marking sheet.

Future Directions

This Activity serves as preparation for the animated cartoon project and the written folio. Students will be required to build upon their existing knowledge of Macromedia Flash and apply it to a practical project that incorporates many complex principles and techniques. They will also be required to effectively document the management, design, production and evaluation of the project through a written project report.
