Description of activity

Students write an email to a friend, telling them about a disastrous weekend they had.

or

Students write a diary entry in which they reflect on their pastimes and daily routine when they were in primary school.

Context

This activity forms part of the writing component of a Stage 5 assessment of learning task. During the Stage 5 course, students have learnt the past tense and have engaged in the deconstruction and construction of email and diary entry text types.

Outcomes

A student:

5.UL.4 experiments with linguistic patterns and structures in French to convey information and to express own ideas
5.MLC.2 uses linguistic resources to support the study and production of texts in French

Criteria for assessing learning

(These criteria would normally be communicated to students with the activity.)

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • demonstrate the relevance of information and ideas
  • write text appropriate to context, purpose and audience
  • structure and sequence information and ideas
  • demonstrate control of a range of language structures and vocabulary in French
