Description of activity

Students sketch three jewellery design ideas for silver jewellery and complete a PMI evaluation of each idea. Students then select and justify one design idea.

Context

Students have investigated ways that people have decorated and adorned their bodies at different times, different places and for a range of occasions. They have researched the significance of body adornment for a specific culture and how the decoration has meaning for the wearer. Using a variety of sources of inspiration, students have developed silver jewellery design ideas.

Outcomes

A student:
5.1.2 applies and justifies an appropriate process of design when developing design ideas and solutions
5.4.1 develops and evaluates innovative, enterprising and creative design ideas and solutions
5.5.1 uses appropriate techniques when communicating design ideas and solutions to a range of audiences

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • communicate three creative design silver jewellery ideas using sketches and labels
  • evaluate the three design ideas using PMI technique
  • justify the selection of one design idea.
