Planning Travel - Australian Tour

There are no Work Samples available for this Activity.

Description of activity

A friend is arriving from overseas, and they will take a month off and travel around Australia. They will have $7,000 to complete their tour. While on tour students will use a variety of accommodation, including motels, caravans and camping in the bush. Students will need to collect a variety of resources and access a list of internet sites.

(Students may work individually or in groups up to a maximum of three.)

Context

This activity flows from elective topic 7, Travel, especially the section on ‘Planning a trip’. The topic can be studied for between 15 to 25 hours; this provides flexibility and enables students to spend an appropriate amount of time on depth of research, analysis and communication. The task can be completed individually or in groups. The students have covered at least two of the core units and have an understanding of consumer choice and personal finance.

The students will actively engage in the planning of a trip around Australia and the requirements of such a trip, including the means of travel, the options available for travel and destinations, and each of the considerations that need to be taken into account when planning such a trip. The students will need to use some initiative when gathering information for the trip, in hard copy and from the internet.
