Dale has demonstrated a very high level of competence in using relief printing practices and techniques to represent the subject matter of still life. This tightly organised composition shows an extensive understanding of pattern making and the design process. The still life has been interpreted in a graphic, stylised manner using a reductive process with three colours. A variety of cutting techniques have been used, and a strong sense of space has been created through overlapping forms. A very high level of competence is evident in the use of line to create textures and three-dimensional forms. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
