Riley has demonstrated an extensive knowledge of the postmodern frame in a considered composition exploring a range of artmaking techniques. There is wit, humour and parody in the manipulation of the building and blurring of the cars. This is an accomplished artwork despite some technical problems. Appropriate, meaningful choices have been made, showing a connection to surrealism and an understanding of art history. The integration of the student’s own portrait reflects some of the conventions of traditional portraiture. Riley has demonstrated an understanding of proportion and scale. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
