Lou has demonstrated extensive understanding of the 12-bar blues. There is a clear sense of structure and the piece is rhythmically interesting with a suitable tempo and an effective bass line providing the harmonic foundation. The blues scale has been explored using call and response ideas supported by effective tone colour choices. The texture changes between the two verses for variety, and blues harmony has been added in the second verse for contrast. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.
