Kim has accurately measured the dimensions of the paper and used algebraic techniques to calculate the correct radius of each cylinder. The volume formula has been used and the conclusions have been communicated using correct mathematical language and notation. Although the inclusion of working out would enhance this response, Kim has demonstrated a very high level of competence in the skills and processes involved. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 4.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
