Kim has demonstrated a basic understanding of poetry analysis. The responses are personalised and largely unsupported by textual references, tending to relate to the level of difficulty rather than the quality and effect of poetic techniques. Metaphor is the only poetic device mentioned. There is limited competence in using appropriate sentence construction to articulate ideas. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of Stage 4.

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
